Light Shines in All Directions
Many of us are out of touch with the miracles of nature and the blessings of the natural world. We have become too busy to notice the budding of leaves and flowers. We have become so consumed by the frantic pace of business that we have become disconnected from the rhythms of the earth.

In Florida more people visit the theme parks in Orlando than visit the manatees, alligators and reefs combined. Sea World and Discovery Cove let you see these wonders in an artificial and controlled environment. There is a real difference in seeing a manatee in a tank with glass between you and the manatee and being in the water and having a manatee come up to you just to visit and play.

A student was once asked where milk comes from. He answered the store. He had never seen a cow. Many of us laugh at this. Some cry that the education is so poor. The truth is that it is neither funny nor the fault of the educational system. The issue is that we have grown away from nature, away from the sources.

We are not immune from these influences. We love air conditioning when it is hot and furnaces when it is cold. We like to purchase flour that is already ground. As we write these article we are very grateful for computers with spell checking and emails to send the articles to the Body ~Mind~Spirit Guide.

On the other hand, in places like Orlando and Las Vegas, we get bored real fast. A day or two is all we can take. A ride that lasts more than a few minutes or a show that goes over an hour and we are looking at our watches.

Get us out in nature and it is a different story. When we go white water kayaking, we may be physically exhausted after a couple of hours but give us a chance to recuperate and we are raring to go again. A typical outing is a full day. We come back physically exhausted but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually energized and replenished.

When we go snorkeling, we usually do one or two dives in the morning and then get out of the sun. We then resume when the sun will not burn us in the afternoon. Four or more hours in the water each day is not unusual. We do prefer a somewhat controlled dive location, one with a
reef.

In both snorkeling and kayaking you learn not to fight nature but to read it and adjust to it. There are always dangers, the more “in tune” you are with nature, the better you read and understand it, the lower the risk and the more the joy.

We have gone to multiple caves in a single day. We have hiked to a number of waterfalls. The list goes on. The attractions are unpredicted and unscripted. There is always danger. The greatest danger in any of these experiences is on the drive to and from the events.

We need to discover nature and in doing so rediscover one another, and ourselves. We should bond with nature, greet the rising sun, and sing in the rain. Connect with the creator and all the creations in the universe.

Find the spirit that lies within. Notice the way a river fills in spring and all life is renewed. Notice what is going on all through the seasons. Give the seasons your blessings, and you will see the source everywhere.

Light shines in all directions. The light of the universe is everywhere. Let the light shine within you. Bring light into the world, share it with others, it will only brighten the
world.

Like a flame that lights the way, so can your flame light others. We are all better off in the end for the light we shed on others. Like the flame of a candle when it ignites another candle into a flame, its light is not diminished by lighting the other candle. The two lights just fill the room with more light. The light goes everywhere and joy spreads.
