We
all know the golden rule. “He
who has the gold makes the rules.” We, the public, are
deluged by the media.
Television, radio, newspapers and even the class rooms are filled with
lessons
or propaganda paid for by those with money and power.
Recently
we had a chance to see
what is in the classroom. In one of the national publications
distributed to
the classrooms there were two articles. One dealt with a girl who was a
medical
intuitive and the other discussed homeopathy.
The
basis of the first story was
how they designed an experiment to prove that this girl could not
really sense
or see what was wrong with people. They had five people, each with a
different
issue. The girl was told that she was to be presented with five people
and what
the problems were. She was to match the person with the medical
diagnosis.
After
she had made the matches the
article attempted to show how the matching was easily explained. As an
example,
it was obvious that a problem must have belonged to the person with the
limp
and another for the athletic person.
The
article was to teach how people
can be easily fooled and that the medical intuitive is a simple trick.
It is
too bad that the lesson was not on science. It showed several things
very
clearly. First, the design of an experiment is very important. Second,
the
sample size must be sufficient. Third, you can explain anything if you
want to
and ignore the results of the study.
The
other article was on
homeopathy. There is a basic argument that the medical establishment
always
pushes, the concentrations are so small that they can have no effect.
Their
conclusion is that the results are from the placebo effect.
Again,
they are trying to come up
with explanations to explain away the studies that are done. We would
like to
address the placebo effect first. The medical establishment has been
unable to
explain the placebo effect. They say it is mind over matter, however
they don
not know how it works and how to harness it.
In
a 1955 HK Beecher published his
classic "The Powerful Placebo" which showed that 35% of the people
demonstrate
improvements with a placebo. In effect, any medication where the
population
that improves is 35% or less is no better than a placebo. Watch the
news reports.
See how many of the new medications show a cure rate of 15%, 10% or
even 5%
improvement.
These
articles, and most of the
articles and news releases, downplay the side effects of medical cures.
They
also ignore their own history. During the time of Louis Pasteur the
medical
establishment very publicly tried to discredit the bacteria theory. The
most
prominent doctor of the day stated that he would not wash his hands for
anyone.
Women were dying from diseases that were carried from patient to
patient by
those very doctors.
Like
the homeopathics, the medical
establishment of the day claimed that bacteria were so small that, if
they
existed, they could have no effect. They used the same argument of many
environmental pollutants and now they are listing problems with
chemicals where
the concentrations are in the rates of one part per million or billion.
Another
part of the medical blind
spot is the cures that the medical establishment pushed in the past.
These
include a medication that was given to pregnant women and resulted in
large
numbers of children being born with deformities. They also pushed
arsenic,
cocaine and other chemicals that later proved to be addictive or
cumulative
poisons.
Please
do not get us wrong, we are
not advocating abandoning medical science. The elimination of small pox
and
near extinction of polio are but two of the medical successes. There
was a time
when people who broke a bone were usually lame for the rest of their
lives.
Later amputation became the norm. Now, even major injuries end in
complete
restoration of function.
What
we are stating is that those
who seek, not to heal but, to gain power, make it rich or maintain
their places
of power are using propaganda for these purposes. You need to watch
published
results from studies. Remember the number of falsified studies
sponsored by or
done by the tobacco industry showing that smoking was not addictive or
the
ineffective filters made smoking safe.
You
need to be conscience of who
did the study, who sponsored it and how was it conducted. In the
scientific
community no study is taken seriously until it has been repeated by
another
organization. Some of the people who publish bend the protocols to get
sensational headlines, and additional funding.
In
college one professor took the
data he collected and eliminated any data that did not meet his theory
as being
an anomaly. In his case this would sometimes be as much as half of the
data.
Needless to say, when others repeated his studies the conclusions could
not be
verified.
In
other cases the studies are just
not well designed. For example, there is no control group. Without a
control
group, there is no way to determine what is normal and what the effect
of the
chemicals being tested really is.
There
have been studies that show
that a new compound is twice as effective as the old compound. When a
verification study is done it will again show that the new compound is
twice as
effective, however the control group did better that either. The side
effects
from the compounds actually offset the effects of either the old or new
compound.
Those
who publish are always
looking at their own interests and the interests of those who fund
their
research. The pharmaceutical companies do not make as much from a cure
as from
a medication that you will take every day for the rest of your life.
The
medical establishment pressured, and in most cases has succeeded, the
insurance
industry in not paying for energy work, including chiropractics,
homeopathy,
acupuncture, etc.
It
is interesting that in nearly
every culture there are people who are revered for being enlightened.
The word
itself encompasses this very subject, letting the light in.
One
of the metaphors for
enlightenment is climbing a mountain. The higher you get on the
mountain the brighter
the light from the sun. The higher you get, the clearer the view. The
higher
you get the less distortion from the atmosphere.
It
is no accident we refer to
becoming more enlightened through education as higher education. We
refer to
progressing in spiritual growth as moving to a higher plane. In most
religions
we go up to heaven and move into the light. This is a place of peace
and
harmony where all live together, an enlightened state.
Most
unreal fears can not stand the
light. Superstitions and bigotries dissolve when the light of knowledge
is
focused on them.
Keeping
others is the dark is a
powerful tool for those who seek power. There is another word, this
with a
negative connotation, that is the tool of people with power. It is
propaganda.
One
of the titles that we go by is
“light workers.” This is a powerful title. Our job
is to let the light in.
Allow the light to illuminate even the darkest places within ourselves
and our
clients.
The negative
energies, fears and pain hide in the dark
places within all of us. The light we let in will make the shadows from
the past disappear. Knowledge is light, love is light. All that is
positive
is light. Let your light shine. Be a beacon to others.
